Cheesy Love

I wanted to share with you what we did for Valentine’s Day last week. We spent a week skiing in Switzerland and were there over Valentine’s Day (total coincidence). We rented this beautiful chalet with the most amazing fireplace so really, we did not feel like going out for an overly-priced meal at an overly-crowded restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, I love going out on date nights, but New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day are the two nights I avoid it at all cost.

Anyways, enough about me, let’s get to the decor. I really wanted to stay true to the rustic, chalet feel so did not go overboard on the decor. I really just stuck to the minimum: I added fairy lights around the windows and a few candles around the room and the mood was set.

If there’s something I absolutely cannot resist, its cheese. Plus, since we were in the Alps, we thought there could not have been a better time to have cheese fondue.

I had ordered these adorable heart-shaped placemats and coasters but unfortunately, they did not arrive on time so I made some DIY ones using red carton-like paper.

I also made the napkin rings. One of the advantages with doing it yourself is that you can personalise it exactly the way you want it to, so I wrote both of our initials with glittery paint. It’s so simple (literally takes 5 minutes max) and makes all the difference. I made a Youtube video showing you how I made both the placemats and napkin rings, so head on over to see it and let me know if you would be interested in seeing more of these DIY tutorials!

Lastly, because I decided against using a tablecloth, I added heart-shaped confetti to my table. I just grabbed a heart-shaped cookie cutter and poured in the confetti. Its so easy but a nice twist to normal confetti uses.

I hope you had an amazing Valentine’s Day with your loved ones! What were you up to?
