Springing into Summer

Hello my loves! As promised, this week I wanted to share a few pictures (and a video! Go check it out on my Youtube channel for more behind-the-scenes and candid moments!) from a picnic we had last week. I’m a big fan of picnics because it combines two of my favourite activities: being outdoors and eating. 😉 It’s a great motivation to get outside, go for a little (or long, if you’re feeling adventurous) walk knowing that your reward will be tucking into the delicious meal you brought along with you.

This summer, my goal is to spend more time outside and enjoy the BEAUTIFUL weather we’ve had so far.

If you missed it, these past two weeks I shared two recipes on the blog: one for the cauliflower tabouleh (its gluten free!) and one for the beetroot soup, both of which we brought along on our lunch outing. Soup can sound like the ultimate pain to bring on a picnic but honestly mason jars are super practical containers and its extremely refreshing to start off with after having spent a couple of hours in sun.

We also packed some cheese, cold meat and crackers as a side as well as chocolate covered strawberries and biscuits for dessert.

Oh and lets not forget the cold rosé, the most important part of the meal! 😉

Also, for those interested I found similar versions of the cooler with the integrated pouch with a picnic service here or here. They are great presents if ever you are looking for ideas. Just sayin’… 😉

We arrived at lunch time and left when the sun was setting. We kicked off our shoes, lathered on some sunscreen and enjoyed the warmth of the sun. We lounged around, enjoyed each others’ company and did a little people watching. I always love to think about what peoples’ background and story is, why they are here and with whom. This probably sounds a little bit weird but I find it very entertaining for some reason.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention, we also brought along our favourite game, Rummikub, which we play… hmmm… probably every evening. Haha. Yes, we’re obsessed.

All in all, it was a great afternoon. I highly encourage you to get out and enjoy the summer. Its truly good for the soul.

With that being said, I have to get back to work. I hope you have a great week my friends!

  1. Looks and sounds wonderful. You’re right, we don’t spend enough time outside. Picnics are a great way to change that. Thx for sharing all your ideas. xx
